No one beats odds with style quite like Krys Ivory. After hearing star poet Briana Latrise rave about how awesome she was I had followed Krys Ivory on Twiiter and indulged myself in her messages to those undying fans of hers, I was impressed. With a new mixtape making its way around the world Krys Ivory still deals with day to day life situations. A proud Cancer survivor nothing has slowed down the stride of Krys. When her schedule slowed up I got a few fly answers out this soulful stage stealer and here's what she had to say...
Where did the name Krys Ivory come from ? Krys is short for Kristina...Ive always been called Krys or K.C. initials for my first and middle name Candace. How did your music career take shape ? Ive been singing since I was 4 years old. I had my first performance when I was 5. It just kind of manifested itself. I knew what i wanted and I went for it! lol!
Your strength is inspiring, how do you grab the right moment to write a good / or perform a song ? I find inspiration in experiences in life, whether it be mine or a friends. But I pull all the emotion out of me and let it flow from my lips. Its like acting, when you get into character you pull emotion from your experiences or from others. Thats how you are able to portray the emotion the best way you can. So I guess you could say that the right moment, is when I feel it in my heart.
How is working with Ryan Leslie ? What's the best advice he's given you ? I like to call Ryan a "MAD SCIENTIST" when he is in the studio. He's so exhilarating to watch! I can see all the excitement in his face as he goes from one instrument to the next trying to find the sound that inspires him! Im extremely energetic so his energy only makes me wanna bounce off the walls and dance, sing, maybe even do a back flip! LOL! (although ide probably injure myself LOL) The best piece of advice Ryan ever gave me was when he was telling me about his struggle with gaining the right support from his previous label. He said that when no one else supports you, dont just lay there helpless and take it. See, Ryan made it possible to invest in himself, so he could make his dreams come true. He made sure that he made the noise and money to draw attention to and put into his own career; instead of waiting around for a label to hand him a ticket. I plan on having the same attitude and grind. But Im also gonna sprinkle a whole lot of God in the equation!
2 ! A shitzu named Lulu and a mutt named Tippy. Lulu is very sweet, I named her after Leelu from the 5th element. I loved Leelus character. Im very much into Scifi action movies.

Prostitution is a Leading problem in the U.S. Everyday the streets take our beautiful young girls and break their spirits, minds, and body's down until they are mentally gone or dead. Ive lost friends in school and out of school to the streets. One of which was my best friend in highschool. She was 16 then. She now is addicted to crack,she prostitutes, and a few years ago was diagnosed with schizophrenia, I pray for her everyday. This media will have you singing "Its hard out here for a pimp" NO. Its hard out here for young girls. Lets fight for our little girls!!!!!!!!!!!

Describe your new album in one word ?
I'm aiming for this year! But until then, my new mixtape/ street album is circulating the net! It's called "REFLECTIONS" hosted by Charlamagne Tha God and Dj Frosty from the beat. It was so cool working with these two the tape! Actually, Charlamagne was the one who suggested the tape and the name. He said "REFLECTIONS" because he felt my music reflected my heart, and he really wanted the world to know it. He felt the mixtape would be inspirational. And I agree! Frosty is the best Dj for the job too because he was so excited after he heard the music! I got very blessed working with these two! Devi Dev from 93.5 KDAY even gives a guest appearance on it!
